In 2014 Apex teamed up with world leading temporary street circuit specialists, KBR to provide GT Global Race with a technical feasibility study and master plan for a temporary street circuit in the heart of Malaysia’s Capital City, Kuala Lumpur.
The KL City Grand Prix is intended to be an event that will draw the attention of the world to the streets of Kuala Lumpur. The primary event at the KL City Grand Prix will be an epic race through the city streets where high performance GT race cars will battle it out amidst Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic landmarks. The benefit of such an event will manifest itself in a boost in tourism and subsequently to the economy. The impact of this event from all visitors is expected to generate close to RM750 million in 2015 and steadily grow to RM1.3 billion by the year 2020. (Figures generated by PWC) Hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, entertainment outlets and other business in the vicinity will stand to benefit directly from this influx of travelers arriving for the event.
The circuit was planned to provide spectacular visual opportunities utilising the city’s skyline and iconic landmarks to present a magnificent backdrop for race photographers and television cameras of global broadcaster expected to reach 1.2 billion viewers globally in more than 50 countries.
The team is currently actively working towards the detailed design and supervision of the venue delivery in time for the inaugural KL City Grand Prix scheduled for the 7th – 9th August 2015.
